clyfford still museum - denver, 2017

The curation and installation of 62 of Clyfford Still’s solely abstract works, including fifteen late paintings which had never been on public view, were exhibited as a part of the Museum’s 2017 Artists Select series and was conceived in conjunction with artist Julian Schnabel. The exhibition begins with the last paintings first, reversing the order in which visitors typically navigate a retrospective exhibition ending with a surprising, salon-style hanging of smaller, early paintings made during the late-1930s and mid-1940s.
